Frequently
Asked Questions:
How Can I Determine
Whether I Need Orthotics?
Orthotics will provide protection and comfort for your feet even
if no foot problems exist. Historically, custom made orthotics have been
proven to correct imbalances such as flat feet or high arched feet. Orthotics
can alleviate pain from foot, heel, arch, leg, knee or lower back pain.
If you are on your
feet for extended periods of time orthotics can add comfort. Orthotics
are also very useful in improving performance and enhancing comfort for
athletes and can provide protection and comfort for seniors and diabetic
foot conditions.
How do custom
made orthotics differ from off the shelf insoles?
The off the shelf insoles are generally made from sponge and/or foam
rubber materials. They will provide some shock absorption but very little
biomechanical control or support. Our orthotics are made with only the
highest quality medical grade materials. The foundation of the orthotic
is a custom fitted shell manufactured with a thickness that is consistent
with your type of activity and type of shoe. Special cushioning material
is added to provide excellent shock absorption, comfort and protection.
Will orthotic
eliminate all of my foot problems?
No, orthotics will help your feet function more efficiently and will
allow for quicker healing. Orthotics will alleviate pain and prevent additional
foot problems from developing.
Can I wear the
same pair of orthotics in all of my shoes?
Probably not. Our "Active"
product will fit in most general purpose walking and athletic shoes. They
may not fit into your dress shoes due to their construction. The "Dress"
orthotic is made with far less "bulk" (thickness) and is designed
for low profile dress and casual shoes.
